# [Answer wedding and group block requests.](https://www.trymumm.com/industries/hospitality/group-requests)

> A wedding or a group asks for many rooms on the same nights. It compares hotels on the rate, the release date and what you add for the group. Answer with one offer that states all three.

- **Updated:** 2026-11-01

## Four things in every group request.

- **Rooms and nights.** How many rooms, on which nights, and whether the number can move. A wedding may ask for four rooms for two nights. A team may ask for twenty.
- **Extras for the group.** A suite for the couple, welcome drinks, a shuttle to the venue, breakfast or parking. Say which you can include.
- **What happens to rooms nobody books.** Groups ask about pickup and release. Pickup is how many of the blocked rooms guests book. The release date is when the rest return to your general sale.
- **How long they have to decide.** A group needs time to hear from its guests. Say how long you will hold the rooms.

## Put the release date and the pickup in the offer.

- **The rate and what it covers.** State the rate per room per night, and list each extra beside it.
- **The release date.** The day unbooked rooms go back on sale. A later date gives the group more time, so choose one you can plan around.
- **The minimum pickup.** How much of the block guests must book before the group owes you for rooms nobody took. A lower number is easier for a group to accept.
- **The cancellation terms.** When the group can give rooms back, and what it owes if it does.

## Bigger requests wait for your OK.

- **It arrives with the rest.** A group request lands in the same list as every other request, from Mumm or from an AI assistant that connects to Mumm.
- **Bigger requests wait for you.** With Pro, Mumm’s seller agent makes offers inside your rules. A block of rooms is bigger than a standard request, so it waits for your OK.
- **You choose the answer.** Add welcome drinks for the group, hold the rooms for 48 hours or pass politely.
- **Keep a block ready as a draft.** List a wedding block in your products and services, such as four rooms for two nights with a shared lounge. It stays a draft until you publish it.

## A wedding block, answered.

Example. A group asks: “Four rooms, Jun 6–8, for a wedding. Anything for a group?”

Your offer:
- Four rooms, two nights, shared lounge: $2,080
- Welcome drinks for the group: Included
- Rooms held for: 48 hours
- Release date: 30 days before arrival

## Questions before you set up

## What is a courtesy block?

A courtesy block holds rooms for a group without the minimum pickup of a contracted block. Say which one you are offering, and state the release date either way.

## Does a group request need Pro?

No. On Free, group requests reach your inbox and you answer them yourself. Pro adds Mumm’s seller agent for the requests that fit your rules.

## What if the group asks for less than my lowest price?

Mumm never goes below your lowest price. A request outside your rules waits for your OK, and you decide whether to answer with extras.

## How long should I hold the rooms?

Long enough for the group to hear from its guests, and short enough that you can offer the rooms to someone else. You choose the end date of each offer.
